I'm taking a break.  I spent the entire morning shopping and preparing the goodies for tomorrow's football game party, which we're hosting.
Our hungry, thirsty Packer fan buddies will arrive at 2:00.

- Brat sliders.  I pre-cooked the brats, then cut them in half, then sliced the halves length wise, so each bratwurst is cut into flat quarters. Tomorrow I'll brown the brats under the broiler and toast the little buns, then assemble them, and serve them with condiments of sauerkraut, onion, mustard and ketchup.

- Buffalo wings.  Two big honkin' trays of wings.  I made genuine ranch dressing for them - the kind with buttermilk and mayo.

- Celery and carrot sticks. Aha! Something healthy. How redeeming.

- Rick Krispie Bars.  Made with butter and freshly harvested soft, squishy genuine Jet Puffed Marshmallows.

- Chicken Chile Con Queso.  My husband's in charge of this one.  He's perfecting his recipe, because he's making it for an office party next week and wants to give it a trial-run.  It's a dip, served with tortilla chips.

- Beer, Soda, Water.

- Pickle Juice.  Just kidding.

This afternoon will be taken up with dusting, vacuuming, and giving the bathrooms a fast once-over.  It won't take long. Amazing how clean the house stays without kids at home any more.

I'm looking forward to the football party. Lots of fun, with our best friends.

Your menu sounds quite yummy. Oooh, the brats and rice krispie treats - talk about comfort food! Hope it's a wonderful day for you.

Yes, it's astonishing how housework changes when you're down to just one or two people. Heh. One of the upsides to the kids leaving home.

I wanted to make some classic tailgate grub, so that's how I came up with the brats and wings. As for RK bars - that is mandatory party food at my house:)

As for the house - hoo, yeah, I'll probably be whining about the kids trashing the family room come winter break!

Have a great party! The last party I was involved in throwing was at Media West maybe ten years ago. *sigh* What a great time we had!

I'm not as brave about having one at home. My folks never had a party in their home, ever. They were hermits. I have never felt comfortable, as a result, trying to throw a party. Hmmm. Those formative years never leave us, do they?

:-D Enjoy your day! I hope your team wins. :-)

That's so great, you've been to MW. I'm sure you had a blast!
I think, for you, with the dogs, every day must be a party. All you have to do is get them some hats, put some treats on little plates for them and voila! Parteee!

I just want to say that I hope the party goes well, even if I am rooting for the Giants :D

Yikes! Are we allowed to speak to each other on game day?

I really think it's going to be a good match-up. I'll be thinking of you, cheering away! Or weeping away, as the case may be:)

Hey! Do you want to do a story bet? If the Giants win, I write a little story for you, and if the Packers win, you write one for me! Story to be delivered on Super Bowl day, Feb. 5th!

I like the story bet idea--it's like when the mayors of the two superbowl cities bet favorite foods :) OK, I'm game, I won't even ask for an over/under. Go team!!

You got nervous there for a while, didn't you :) Ya won fair and square--you can even give me a prompt if you want. I should have plenty of time to write it (if I ever finish the DtC story that is!--right now I'm in my annual panic mode)

What a nail biter. I think we screamed at the Packers loudly enough to be heard in New Jersey:) I'll think of a prompt today once my brain shifts into gear. Don't give it a thought until you have free time, and really, it doesn't have to be done in time for the super bowl - that was just a random thought. Good luck with DtC! We're down to the last week:)
