Book Covers - Day 1

[livejournal.com profile] elmey nominated me to post covers of seven books I love - one cover a day for a week. There is to be no explanation or review, just covers.

Update:
[livejournal.com profile] spikesgirl58 says she's good for a second round, so I'm tagging her!

I would have been shocked, shocked , if this weren't your first choice :D

Nice looking edition too, is it a recent one?

I wanted to cheat and add 'The Honorable Schoolboy' and 'Smiley's People' to the photo:)

I've had it for a very long time, I'm just guessing 25 years. I'd sent for a first edition from Abe books and was disappointed when I received it - it's a Franklin Library edition. But oh, well. It's indestructible, I'll say that for it!

Doing this thing, I realize that I have a few books I should upgrade. I seem to be hard on books--It's partly because I carry them around with me. I still prefer to read paper rather than Kindle when I can.

I love having paperback copies. A lot of my faves have been re-issued in trade paperback size, which I can just toss in my tote bag when we hit the road. I do have the Karla trilogy on my kindle. And War and Peace, and Anna Karenina:)

Oooo, this cover reminds me of Rene Magritte.

I'm on it! Thanks!

Goody. I'm looking forward to your covers:)

It doesn't show it's age at all! It's a pity though that you didn't get the actual edition you wanted. :-(

This edition is cast-iron strong, and still looks like new.
I hate the gilt-edged pages:)

Cast-iron strong is good. Books should endure. (I've been reading lately about cuneiform tablets and how many of the ones that survived were because the fires that destroyed the buildings they were in baked the clay and made them stronger. I just loved that detail.)
